White Plains, NY
(R.I.P.) Having been out of touch with Henry for a year, I dropped in on his Sports Boutique (december 2005) to find the laundromat next door had expanded into his space. Henry had hooked me up for 17 years. His skateboard shop was a true independent shop, free of all the commercial glam. For Henry, Sports Boutique was a labor of love. I even stopped in on my wedding day. Best of luck to you my friend!
2nd Nature: Shop keeps skateboarders rolling

Doug Brown and Henry Cheng opened 2nd Nature, a skateboarding shop, last October in Sleepy Hollow. Cheng, 49, was co-owner of Sports Boutique on Central Avenue in White Plains for 20 years but lost his lease in 2004 when the laundry next door expanded. Brown, a skateboarding videographer from Pleasantville, was one of Cheng's loyal customers.
"There were no real skate shops in Westchester," after Sports Boutique closed, Brown said. "So we stepped up."
Another attraction is that 2nd Nature is across the street from a skateboarding park, and skateboarders stop by the store before and after practice.
Often, Brown skates with his customers and organizes skateboarding lessons and competitions around the area.
"I come in and hang out on my days off," he said. "It's great to be involved with skating on this level."
