I can still hear Alicia Silverstone, as Cher Horowitz, belting out the as if line throughout her 1995 movie, Clueless. I always had an affinity for her character championing the underdog. I put that sound file on my Dad's computer as a joke... and to this day Cher still chirps her signature line every time his computer boots up. And who'd have thought Brittany Murphy would blow up so big after playing the ugly duckling? Yikes.

For the last couple seasons the girls behind Misschief Film's "As If" have been busy leaving a wake of battered booters and bruised rails behind in order to assemble the first all-girl shred flick of this magnitude. Let go of your preconceptions, this is not just a chick flick. Directors, Fabia Grüebler and Amber Stackhouse, have made sure As If will stand strong amongst the ranks of this years heaviest hitting snowboard films.

These ladies aren't about pastel colors and coordinated outfits. They tap the high marks, go big and don't seem to adequately address the fears many of us would have about some of their runs. Balancing on the peak of an A-frame house's roof before riding down the opposite side was insane! As you see her teetering, you expect a fakie return, but she nails the other side and lands it.

Also enjoyed the roof-top taps on the lift-operator's shack as the girls came off a jump. Basically, these gals tore it up on the big jumps, jibs and wall-rides. They packed a lot of energy into this vid and hopefully it will bring more attention (and cash) to female pros who shred.

Despite hitting rails, roofs and a host of seemingly un-shredable obstacles, girls will be girls. And we want them to be, but there's always something different about their humor and guy-humor. Alexis Waite does a spoof of Flashdance in which she dances around decked out in a leotard and snowboard boots. There are a few skits of this sort which are kind of amusing. I guess I'm more accustomed to Bam throwing crap at everyone - What can I say, I'm just a guy.
