Both the Tampa Pro and Tamp Amateur contests bring hordes of spectators seeking the vibe, autographs and a variety of sordid atrocities. Just because you're not registered in the contest doesn't mean you can't participate... in the mote race.
There's some sort of murky sewage creek (OK, we don't know for sure it's sewage) that runs past the park. Each year they have a foot-race through the muck to see how many idiots they can get to actually do this. Lots, by the way. They offer some sort of prize and the satisfaction of spending the rest of the day in wet shoes and pants. Fun, eh?
This DVD has a great vibe. You can feel the energy from all the screaming fans to the large collection of pro skaters all under one roof. There's a lot of great skating from street to vert with runs by icons of the sk8 world.
Here's the true benefit to a DVD like this...
I'm sure its fun to attend a large successful contest like this. I've been to a few and the vibe and energy is amazing to experience, but when it comes to seeing all the action, you can't beat the footage captured by those in the mix.
Put yourself in the shoes of a moronic football fanatic with season tickets on the 50-yard line. Each home game this guy loads the tailgate with beer & barbeque equipment and heads for the stadium. As he sits like a lump watching the game (often in sub-zero winter conditions) on the 50-yard line, how much of the game happens anywhere near his seat? Not much. In fact, any touchdowns are happening fifty yards from his seat.
The guy at home watching on TV sees the entire game as though he's standing 15 feet from the action. That's what this Tampa Pro DVD is like. It puts you right in the middle of all the action. That's the place to be.
If you've never ventured to a contest of this size, go check it out some year. To see it all, buy (or rent) the DVD!

There's no bonus stuff on this DVD, so that's it kids...
Its a cool DVD, but how many times can you watch the same contest? Might work better as a rental unless live events, on video, are your thing.
