Originally released on VHS in 1991, The Magic F is part of Foundation's DVD box set, Testament, which consists of their first 16 videos.
Vert skating and monster half pipes seemed doomed. The Magic F was Foundation's transition to street skating on film. This vid is only 16 minutes long... After all, how much street skating can a vert-dog tolerate while perched in front of his/her TV set. Those were sad days indeed. I yearned for big airs not massive ollies and handrails. I got over it.
Foundation did too and dropped all the vert riders and set out with The Magic F to make a "street" vid. Ricky Higgins does a block-long manual (very impressive in those days). Even more impressive is watching Beagle ask a shopkeeper for permission to skate the handrail in front of the store. "Knock yourself out," he said. And he did.
The Magic F was Foundation's "getting their act together" release that sent them in the right direction for the long term. Hopefully this direction would lead to longer videos! This was also the point at which Foundation was a stand-alone company - no longer under Rocco.
