Skateboarding DVD Video Review:Thrasher's King of the Road 2006
Director:
Studio: High Speed Productions
Released: 2006
Rating: 3 Stars
Staring:
Here we go again - 2 weeks to cross the country for a $20,000 prize. Four teams have to do tricks in a book, visit particular cities and meet some fairly bizarre challenges.
The Four Teams
The four teams were: Zero, Toy Machine, Baker and Darkstar. Each team had to locate a mystery guest to join their crew.
- Zero
- Jamie Thomas
- Chris Cole
- James Brockman
- John Rattray
- Tommy Sandoval
- Windsor James - Mystery Guest
- Toy Machine
- Johnny Layton
- Billy Marks
- Matt Bennett
- Ed Templeton
- Josh Harmony
- Malcolm Watson - Mystery Guest
- Baker
- Andrew Reynolds
- Jim Greco
- Erik Ellington
- Bryan Herman
- Leo Romero
- Kevin Taylor - Mystery Guest
- Darkstar
- Chet Thomas
- Paul Machnau
- Paul Trep
- Adam Dyet
- Galiea Momolu
- Abdias Rivera - Mystery Guest
At this point no one should be surprised that Zero won. They have won every year they have participated. It's formula - they get out there and do a ton of stuff. They don't just go by the book, they skate everything they see. I'm sure this attitude accounts for the success of the Jamie Thomas sk8 empire. That d00d knows how to make things happen.
As always, I have to bitch about KOTR and it's format. I love the concept, but something in the editing always leaves me wondering what the Hell is going on. Watching the flick, you often don't know who is doing what or where. Sometimes it gets a little random. Don't get me wrong (he said hoping his Thrasher subscription doesn't get "lost") KOTR is a cool DVD. I just wish they would make it longer and try to organize is a bit more.
