Skateboarding DVD Video Review:Shorty's How To Go Pro
Director:
Studio:
Released: 2005
Rating: 4 Stars
Staring:
Sammy Babtista, Torey Pudwill, Andrew Pott, Rodrigo Lima, Chad Muska, Brandon Turner, and Fabrizio Santos.
After watching this DVD I was hoping I'd finally know how to go pro, but alas... I still don't. I guess I'll have to keep submitting sponsor-me tapes and randomly showing up at sk8 company's headquarters ready to throw down before getting thrown out. Darn.
Each rider's segment begins with others remembering him from back in the day and a little insight on how he got sponsored. Um... ok. At least the vid started out with Alice Cooper's "School's Out" track.
Baptista opens this nifty little disc with a fairly mellow part. It just didn't inspire me to get off my ass and put down the beer long enough to smack a curb. He did do this insanely long rail-slide. Pudwill changed things up with some very aggressive street skating.
Santos was awesome! I'm down with anyone who is willing to ollie UP a flight of stairs. Gravity makes it all too damn easy to go down. Hell, even I can lumber down a set of stairs - although I often land on my ass. He even went to the extent of jumping up a flight and then sailing over a fence. Now, that's a leap worth filming. I'd walk his dog if he ever needed such a favor - however, I won't clean up any poop.
I dig Chad Muska. This kid gets all these renown rappers to hang at his make-shift studio and lay down enough trax to cut a CD (the formerly released, Muska Beatz) in which Muska provides the beats. Muska's part is cool and of course the music is cool.
Pott pulls some big jumps and kills some rails. Lima has a cool part, but it was interesting to find out he came to the US to skate and didn't speak any English. You can bet your last dollar I'd never move to a foreign country if I didn't speak the language. Although the current Bush administration is making a move more and more appealing. I wonder how deeply he can ruin America before a revolution breaks out. I'm willing to bet that the middle class won't tolerate annihilation too much longer. I think there will be a civil revolution in the US in the next two decades. I hope not, but you can only push people for so long before they tend to push back. HARD!
Anyway...
George Bush sucks and Shorty's How To Go Pro is a good flick.

- LA2NY - On May 3, 2003 Chad Muska and a crew of friends set out across the country on journey from Los Angeles to New York. Chad's destination was NY so he could put the finishing touches on his album, Muskabeatz. Instead of flying, he decided a cross country skate trip would be more fun. There's some really cool stuff in here and adds a lot to an already great DVD.
