Skateboarding DVD Video Review:Toy Machine's Good and Evil
Director:
Studio:
Released: 2004
Rating: 5 Stars
Staring:
Ed Templeton, Josh Harmony, Austin Stephens, Diego Bucchieri, Billy Marks, Johnny Layton and Matt Bennett.
The skating in this video is amazing. No need for fast-forwarding, you can just play from start to finish. Starting up the video, even before the real intro, is Ed Templeton skating like a demon (assuming that's a good thing - he rocks). After the intro section comes Josh Harmony with some big stuff and massive tailslides. After Harmony's part comes Austin Stephen's. Matt Bennett has a crazy looking trick he throws down rails.
We're granted an intermission in the form of animation by Mike Geiger, based on a character and storyboard by Ed Templeton. A Samurai of sorts - orange dude chops his girlfriend in half and finds a hooker who promptly stabs him. Art, anyone?
Next Johnny Layton kills it in his part. Check out his Nutty frontside blunt at the end of his part. Billy Marks throws down crazy trick after crazy trick; they just keep coming in this part. Diego Bucchieri does big ol gaps and some nice looking frontside 360s. The giant ollie at the end is very cool!
Harmony's final run is a classic. He grinds a long rail, lands and jumps off his board before quickly running out of landing-zone. Just passed where he lands is a steep brick decline to a grassy park. He leaps over the brick descent and does a few rolls in the grass before coming to a stop. Awesome save!

Harmony's final run is a classic. He grinds a long-ass rail, lands and jumps off his board before quickly running out of landing-zone. Just passed where he lands is a steep brick decline to a grassy park. He leaps over the brick descent and does a few rolls in the grass before coming to a stop. Awesome fucking save!

I just have to give props to Diego for using Rata Blanca in his part. They totally rock and I'll bet a lot of people haven't heard them. Go check them out - even if you don't speak Spanish. And while you're at the record store, give a listen to Control Machete. If you like Rata Blanca, you'll like Control Machete as well.
Even if you don't speak Spanish - I don't - seriously give these bands a spin. If you're concerned about the language barrier, just spell the word, "socks".
S - O - C - K - S ... There you have it, you already sound the part!
