Post-Skateboarding Scarfing Material Recipe

Pool Scum

If you're an adventurous pool skater, then you've had the privilege of draining a pool. This in turn means you've encountered the foul layer of scum that often resides on top of all the liquid sludge you have to remove. wouldn't it be cool to take a nice sip of that stuff?

OK, maybe not, but here's a somewhat more edible variant of that stuff á la lime Jell-o. In under 10 minutes you can prepare 8 servings that will need to be refrigerated for 4 hours prior to scarfing.

  • 1 - 6oz package of Lime flavored Jell-o
  • 2 cups of boiling water
  • 2 cups of cold water
  • 1½ to 3 cups of fruit or vegetables

Other Stuff You'll Need

  • 13x9 inch pan
  • Food processor/chopper
  • Mixing bowl

  1. Boil up a pot of water
  2. Measure out 2 cups and pour into mixing bowl
  3. Add Jell-o gelatin
  4. Still for 2 minutes or until gelatin is completely dissolved
  5. Pour green mixture into the pan
  6. Refrigerate for 1½ hours to firm it up
  7. Chop up your fruit or vegetables.

I find using a can or "fruit cocktail" is easiest. Dump a can into the food processor and give it a quick chopping just to create that gunky texture that you've seen in pool scum. Once mixed with the green Jell-o... it'll take on a nice disgusting look.

You don't "cook" Jell-o exactly, but there are a few things you still need to do.

  • After gelatin has been in the fridge for 1½ hours, add the fruit or veggies
  • Slowly stir the mixture
  • Refrigerate for 4 hours or until firm
